Our kindergarten’s curriculum adopted “child centeredness” as our core value complied by the Hong Kong Curriculum Development Council in “Guide to the Pre-primary Curriculum” (2006). The curriculum is based on the principle of promoting the comprehensive and balanced development of children, including “moral development”, “cognitive and language development”, “physical development”, “emotional and social development”, “aesthetic development” and “spiritual development “which allows toddlers to achieve a holistic development in “values and attitudes”, “skills” and “knowledge”.
教學方法及活動 Learning approaches and activities
We adopt a child-centered learning approach, integrate theme-based learning, and arrange learning activities under different modes of learning like class teaching, group discussions and individual learning. Students broaden their knowledge and develop interest to learn through both physical and sedentary learning activities. Other approaches for example High Scope, project approach, group discussions, free play, read aloud, outings and parent-child activities are also implemented to ensure they lay a good learning foundation.
A portfolio is set up for each student as a systematic record of children’s growth. It allows parents and teachers to record important information of children at various stages as evidence of children’s growth and understand his/her learning progress in order to provide appropriate teaching guidance.
